Working visit of the representatives of the Regional Cooperation Council Secretariat

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, on 1 of October 2008, in Chisinau, the working visit of the representatives of the Regional Cooperation Council Secretariattook place.

In compliance with the RCC Strategic Work Program 2008—2009, based on the Moldovan SEECP Chairmanship Program, the scope of the working visit of the RCC delegation was expressed in presenting the strategic objectives of the RCC Secretariat activities. Furthermore, informing the wider circle of officials form the South Eastern Europe about the RCC mission, priorities and objectives aims at establishing direct links and relationship between the RCC experts and senior and mid-ranking experts from Governments, Ministries, Agencies and other relevant structures in the RCC members states.

The presentations of the RCC Secretariat experts focused on six priority domains of the RCC activity: Economic and Social Development, Energy and Infrastructure, Justice and Home Affairs, Security Cooperation, Building Human Capital and Cross-Cutting issues, and Parliamentary Cooperation.

Taking into account the diversity and major importance of the subjects and aspects approached and discussed in the context of the respective presentations, the event was attended by representatives of all of the national sectoral institutions.

The Regional Cooperation Council, which took over the competences and responsibilities of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, was established on 27 of February 2008, in Sofia (Bulgaria), through the adoption by the SEECP Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the RCC Statute and Joint Declaration regarding the RCC establishment.
